He knows what they've gone through, because he's also gone through that. This song is basically Drake trying to assure his fans that he wasn't always famous, and that he started from the bottom. Drake is rapping here, which means that there is no emotion, there is only drone. That piano is the main music, other than some drums that sound like they want to dubstep, but are under orders to not do so. Because I've liked none of Drake's songs this year. It just doesn't work, and it makes me cringe. It's like Kidz Bop doing a cover of Lil Wayne. Selena Gomez sounds like a Disney Channel pop star, while singing the same subject matter. When Rihanna manages to make a song work, it's because she has a decent singing voice, and actually sounds like she believes in what she's saying. This song is basically Selena Gomez imitating Rihanna's style. This is worse than the average Disney pop song, which is saying something. She even says that the love is not the best kind of love, but she loves it anyways. Yes, she's telling him to "come and get it", and the it is her body. This song is about Selena Gomez telling a guy she's ready for sex. Selena Gomez doesn't have a horrible voice, but she does still sound like a teen popstar, which is an issue since it means her voice hasn't improved in the last several years. The main music is a loud and obnoxious synth line and some drums that sound like a kick banging on pans in rhythm. Unfortunately, once the real music kicks in, I want that back. Music opens with what sounds like the whitest attempt at an African chant. Add in lyrics that are, at best, repetitive and at worst, rather stalkery, and you have a love song that is just not memorable, or all that good. Drake doesn't have nearly enough emotion in his voice to pull off a song by himself, and the dull music does not give him the necessary support. Although the line "Hold on, we're going home" makes it sound like she doesn't really have a choice.īatting 0 for 2 on the "not dreadfully boring" scale. Unlike many other rap songs about girls, he is telling the girl that she's a good girl, and he wants to take her home. Drake actually sings in this song, which sounds a lot better than his monotone rap, since he actually shows some emotion. Unfortunately, the drum line stays, and the volume doesn't go down, almost drowning out the vocals and piano line. Music opens with a repetitive snare drum line that drowns out the rest of the music. As for Majid Jordan, it's actually a producer duo, made up of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman. Majid Jordanĭrake's really been not impressing me this year. #34: "Hold On, We're Going Home" by Drake feat. It's a nothing song, and that's not a good thing. It ate up a few minutes, but the song is already pretty much gone from memory. This is possibly the most pointless song by this band, just because it didn't entertain me, it didn't annoy me (much), and it didn't anger me. Worst of all, the entire song, including the lyrics, just lacked any form of.anything, really. Adam Levine sounded fine on the verses, but he went into high pitched squealing on the chorus. This song is his feelings on their last night together. He asked for one more night, he got rejected. The best way to describe the lyrics are to think of it as a sequel to "One More Night". Adam's voice just doesn't work with that. As for the singing, Adam Levine sounds quite a bit different than usual, and it works until he tries to do the whole "Whoa-oh" thing. It's far more annoying, being a repetitive guitar line strumming the same notes over and over, and a really loud and simplistic drum line. Well, the music is not like other Maroon 5 songs.
